Production of hydrogen and oxygen by electrocatalytic water splitting is considered as a promising and sustainable alternative to natural gas and fossil fuel energy source. IrO2 and RuO2 based catalyst used for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) through multiple proton-coupled electron transfer reactions. These noble metals are most active for water oxidation reaction but due to the high cost, we motivate to investigate other catalysts. In this research work, we developed an abundant and low cost of noble metal electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction. RCPTM team lead by Prof. Manoj B. Gawande in collaboration with partners at Jilin University in China.

Core−shell nanocatalysts are a distinctive class of nanomaterials having various applications in diverse areas including energy conversion and storage, chemical engineering, biological applications, environmental technology, and catalysis due to their unique structure and composition-dependent physicochemical properties. In this research article Goswami et al. described the microwave-assisted, one-pot scalable synthesis of reduced graphene oxide embedded Pd@Pt core−shell nanoparticles and demonstrated their utility as nanocatalysts for the reduction of olefins and in aromatic dehalogenation reactions.

Carbon dots (CDs) represent one of the newest members of carbon-based materials having catalytic, biomedical, optoelectronic, biocatalytic applications and various chemical properties. In this article, we have reported Fe-bearing Carbon dots (CDs) synthesis by bottom-up method via oxidative coupling of xylene molecules by anhydrous FeCl3 under sonication. They successfully demonstrated that Fe CDs can be used as highly efficient catalysts for hydrogen peroxide decomposition as well as olefin hydrogenation reaction.

Nanomaterials in the form of solid support have been widely used as sustainable nanocatalysts in which Magnetic nanoparticles (magnetite and maghemite) are good support for noble metals and organoligands. The active and versatile maghemite-ZnO catalyst was prepared from low-cost precursors by simple coprecipitation technique. In this research article Gade et al. reported the synthesis of maghemite-supported-ZnO nanocatalyst for various organic transformations such as transesterification, Amidation, and O-acylation reactions.
